Project Topics and Main Content:

1.Detection and application of quantum tunneling effects in magnetic nanomaterials

2.Use of Hall elements for detection and application in energy materials

3.Applications of magnetic materials in quantum bits and quantum computing

Analysis of quantum effects in topological materials using magnetic imaging

Project Student Limit:4–6 students

Student Requirements:

• Diligent, persistent, and willing to face challenges and setbacks

• A balanced interest in both theoretical (physics fundamentals) and experimental (hands-on) work

• Curiosity about the field of physics and availability to participate in lab work after class or on weekends

Additional Notes:

First semester: exploration of research topics and training in experimental skills

Second semester: topic selection and hands-on research

Students involved in this project may have opportunities to intern at international collaborative labs in Europe or the U.S. for at least one month between their sophomore and junior year
