Academic Regulations for Course Registration by Degree Program
Course Registration
With the exception of the thesis, all courses in the Institute’s degree programs are elective. The following are foundational courses recommended for all students：
Online Course Registration
- The University adopts an online course registration system. Students are required to complete course registration according to the registration schedule announced by the Office of Academic Affairs.

Doctoral Program Course Registration Guidelines
- The duration of your study must be from 2 to 7 years. The minimum required credits for graduation: 30 credits (thesis excluded). You should take 3 courses of 1 major (International Relations or Strategic Studies), 2 courses each for 2 sub-majors (International Relations, Strategic Studies, National Security and National Defence, PRC Military and Cross-Strait Relations, and Regional Research).
- The maximum credits for each term is up to 8. A maximum of 4 credits from courses taken in other departments’ doctoral programs or this institute’s master’s program (excluding the in-service master’s program) can be recognized as graduation credits. Each semester, students are limited to taking one course from other departments or different academic system. This applies to new students admitted from the 114th academic year onwards.
